I don't see why everyone had problems getting this thing set up. Just followed the directions and got it working on the first run. I bought this to scan slides and negatives. I was skeptic on how well it would work, but it works like a dream. It definitely is slow when you have it at high settings, but if you want quality that's what it takes. You can always set the resolution lower and have a faster scan if quality is not that important.
I should not have bought this scanner. It was very difficult to setup, install, and even to scan anything. The picture showed it as a very attractive device, which it was, however, it is not worth the money. Save your money.
Buying the HP Scanjet 5590 was a complete waste of money. It was difficult to install, the software was beyond my expertise and I had to get my computer friend to set it up for me. Scanning documents takes forever because the paper gets stuck every other scan, I’ve lost count of the amount of time I have spent sorting out a paper jam. If you have the time and patience this may be a good machine but not for me. Buyer beware.
This is a very small machine. I use it for my scrapbooking and I love it. The quality of the photos is amazing! It is also very a very fast machine.
It comes with software that makes it easy to install by following the disk instructions. Although it does take some time to install I am still very happy with my selection
It prints on two sides and you have to love that! It has many features available using one-touch buttons.
It took 2 days to get this flimsy product set up. The disc containing the drivers was un-readable. Once I downloaded the software it took over a half hour to install.
It takes about 10 to 15 minutes to scan a simple W-2 only to get an error message that it could not save the file. The ADF is flimsy and would jam more often than work. Shame on you HP. Microtek here I come.
