Upgraded to this model because of the fax functions. A color laser that has great quality. Comes with the toners and everything. Don't remember if it came with a printer cable, but we had so much of those laying around anyhow. It was a bother to setup, but once it was running, we were relieved. If only it printed faster, but hey, for the price it will do.

This works very well and is very easy to operate. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great printer but not that sure of where to start! I have not experienced any of the problems that anyone else has here.

Difficult to get set up
By AbiVerified Purchaser from UK on 5/25/2008
Pros:
Durable Construction, Fast Operation
Cons:
Hard Setup, Noisy
Best Uses:
Dorm Room, Professional Documents
Describe Yourself:
Frequent User
Primary use:
Business
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This printer was extremely difficult to install. It took almost an hour to get working and be viable on the network here and this was after a lot of fiddling around. It seems that HP use their own installation setup and not a normal Windows setup routine. After we finally got it running we were very disappointed to discover that the printer is very loud and makes weird noises even of its own accord.

It's an OK printer...
By ChrisVerified Purchaser from San Jose, CA on 5/22/2008
Pros:
Durable Construction, Easy Setup
Cons:
Hard To Use, Jams Easily, Slow Operation
Best Uses:
Graphics & Charts, Professional Documents, Workgroups
Describe Yourself:
Frequent User
Primary use:
Business
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This printer wasn't exactly what I had expected. It was an all right printer - it got the job done; however, it was a bit slow, and it a bit too bulky. It was somewhat hard to work/program, and it seemed to jam pretty easily. I wouldn't recommend buying this product over others on the market today..

Avoid it

The management software is a huge resource hog and the device is very slow and unreliable. The print cartridges have a habit of wanting to be changed every few days - wiggling them around makes them work again. The drum wore out after only 2 months of moderate use (about 7,000 pages). There are MUCH better machines out there for the money.

Good quality prints but extremely slow!
By SemiVerified Purchaser from San Mateo, CA on 6/1/2006
Pros:
High-Detail Printing
Cons:
Hard to program features, Jams - unclear error, Slow
Best Uses:
Office

It looks great and has promising features, but it took us a while to figure out how to program the scanner and the fax functions. Also, the printer is very slow - it takes forever to print graphic heavy pages, as well as plain black print.

Once in a while, it stops working because of an error and we cannot figure out what it is. Therefore, I find it unreliable since I can't print anything quickly or depend on it working properly.
