I use the APC Smart UPS 1500 to provide backup power for two complete computer systems with multiple LCD monitors, one a Xeon based system with RAID, the other an Intel P5 Quad based system with RAID. Both systems are rendering full-time, and the UPS still runs at only about 80% capacity, yielding about 10 minutes of run-time, and very little heating. If I stop the smaller system and stop the rendering on my main system (the Xeon) my standby time goes to over 30 minutes.I have had several adverse power events and found myself typing away in the dark, this UPS really handles bad surges and complete power blackouts with aplomb. Only criticism I have is that it doesn't have a single-button On/Off switch. Other than that, it's perfect. It corrects for over-voltages and power sags, according to the documentation, but my power is clean enough that I've not need to take advantage of those features. I intend to buy more for my other systems, and I would (have) heartily recommend it to my friends.
