Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
When on long trips I use it for what we old folks call "books on tape." That's right, it reads the books to me! With an add on service called Air Sharing it serves well as an emergency drive for storage. The one downfall is because most controls are on the screen, it can't be easily controlled while in a pocket, but there is an add-on remote. Apple sure has done a good job with the iPod Touch.
