I bought the Garmin Oregon 450t for hunting purposes, but my wife now wants to use it for geocaching. It comes loaded with features and a quick start guide, but you have to download the manual from Garmin's website. The screen seemed dim and hard to see until I got the manual and learned how to turn up the brightness. The battery life is short with disposable batteries, but a good set of rechargable NiMH AA batteries will solve that. The best feature I found that Garmin doesn't publicize is the ability to scan any map that is to scale, link it to Google Earth, and then download it to the GPS. I hunt on a military reservation and loaded my 1:50,000 NIMA Topo map complete with training areas and off-limit areas directly to my 450t. The contour lines even line up. Amazing! Having to buy high-quality NiMH batteries and a charger is what kept me from giving the 450t five stars.
