No, I would not recommend this to a friend
System runs great with all the basic notebook options at 2.6 lbs. The beginning install image is light on bloat ware. Outside the utilities and drivers I only had to remove Norton, Google applications and MS Office. The only fault with this model is that full screen web videos can be choppy, still play in a window.
