I purchased my Z with the 9-cell extended battery already on board. I am able to charge my laptop overnight and have the computer useful from 8:30 to 4pm (going to standby between classes, at lunch and in any class where it is not used) without the concern for losing power - and this includes being live to the school network. I NEVER bring my power cord with me and chuckle a little as I watch the rows of students hunting for an outlet to juice their power-hungry computers. I have been using the computer for over 6-months and the battery is still excellent

I watch alot of streaming media via Netflix, YouTube and Sling Box. When attached to TV via HDMI, it noticeably extends stamina and allows watching full 2 1/2hr movies w/o plugging in.

The battery seems to hold up well to the 1.5x battery life SONY claims. I find the extra bump nice as a boost for the keyboard, making it more comfortable to type on. I could see how some might find it a bit annoying at times though. However, the battery life is well worth it. Great for long flights, especially if paired with a fully charged regular sized backup battery, which I didn't even need to whip out on a 4 hour flight. It might be a tad pricey, but I got mine on sale, so it its all good. Most likely, a good investment in the long run whether on sale or not. Great buy, well worth it.
