Pros:
Great picture; Wonderful 3D experience; Easy installation.
Bottom Line:
Yes
The quality and clarity of the picture on HD and SD is unbelievably great. I was skeptic about 3D TVs before buying this one. It all changed once I started viewing the 3D programs. This has many technological advantages over earlier Sony XBR TVs. It is very easy to instal and getting access to internet programs like You Tube, Yahoo etc. is just a child's play. You will be happy with your purchase as I am now with this TV and also was before with my earlier Sony XBR TV.

terrific picture, motion flow much improved. sound quality is well below xbr standard of my other sony's, had to purchase a sound bar to compensate. gorilla glass creates reflection in some light conditions.

Well, I started out my new TV search by getting the Samsung UN55D8000Y. I wish I had listened to the bad reviews. Right out of the box, I had problems with clouding and bleeding, so i returned it. I chose the XBR after having many good years with Sony products. This TV has been amazing so far. The picture quality was not as good as the Samsung's at first, until I played with the settings for a while, then the true picture potential came out. I have a Denon receiver, which the XBR works well with.

This TV is the best! We highly recommend it. Set up is a breeze! We took our time looking and comparing, and reading a lot of information about 3D TVs, and right out of the box this Sony XBR55HX929 proved our choice to be the right one. The intense detail and color in the pictures for TV, movie, and 3D viewing is phenomenal and beyond anything we could have imagined. The 3D glasses (battery) have comfortably fit all ages quite well (so far, age 8 through adult); including over prescription eyeglasses. Buy high speed cables for best results. It has a no-glare screen. The TV speakers are just fine and we have not found them to be any less powerful than our prior analog TV - we often run TV shows without powering up additional speakers. Side angle viewing is never going to be the same as sitting in front of the TV, but the little bit of fading that can be noticed is not significant by any means. Syncs well with the PS3 but in order to charge the DualShock controllers, the TV has to be on (for us, this is not a consumer friendly feature and is a significant flaw because sometimes you just want to charge a controller but not have the TV on). The only two cons are: 1) the lack of it having a screen saver (a wonderful feature that is surprisingly missing); 2) Closed Caption does not come on when "mute" is pushed (a great feature on our prior TV, especially when a word or sentence spoken by an actor is muffled, it was easy to go back and mute and see the words). With the Sony TV, the CC has to be specifically turned on and off through a menu. Unfortunately, such features or lack of them can only be discovered after buying a product; however, none of the cons would prevent us from buying this TV again!

If you want the best TV on the market, look no further. This TV has stunning picture quality and better than any other TV that I have seen. The TV looks great in my living room with its slim design and brushed aluminum finish on the stand and around the edges. One thing to consider is that the speakers on this TV are kind of weak and i recommend having an external sound system of some sort. This TV has many built in apps and internet features. Also, this TV gets better and better because of the updates it automatically receives. The last update brought facebook, twitter, and Youtube HD. Youtube looks great on this TV with the new update. I'm so happy with my purchase and I recommend this Tv to anyone looking for the Best TV with all the bells and whistles and is willing to pay the premium price for it.
