Excellent Large Screen TV - Really like it!

This is a great TV. The picture is outstanding and when used in conjunction with a 5.1 Dolby Surround Sound System, it is like watching sports as if you were right at the game and watching a movie on Blue Ray DVD as if you were at a theatre. But, the best part is the ticket price for watching sports is a lot lower and the popcorn and refreshements are only a few steps away. I highly recommend this TV

This is my 2nd Smart TV from Sony. I'm a little disappointed in this TV. I purchased a 40" Bravia Internet 3D TV from Sony and the picture is WONDERFUL!! Its crystal clear and the picture seems like its coming at you. Unfortunately this TV is a little more darker in color and not as bright in lighting. To sum it all up the picture quality is not as good as my other Sony Bravia, so am a little disappointed.

I purchased the 55-HX729 the weekend after Thanksgiving because of the awesome sale on Sony.com. I was looking at lower quality TVs and saw the sale price of this TV and could not pass it up. This is by far one of the best 55" LED-LCDs out there for the money. So about the TV, it is one of the best pictures I have ever seen. I had a concern about the LED being placed in a bright room and not being able to see it, but the screen is not overly glossy and makes the viewing much better during the day than anticipated. The standard definition programing is just as good as any other TV, but where this puppy really shines is in HD. We were watching a recent episode of CSI and it looked as if we were there with them walking around, and that wasn’t even in 3D! I cannot comment on the 3D part of the TV because we have not bought the glasses to watch anything yet. I wasn’t even interested in the 3D functionality, but to get a 240Hz TV this clear, the 3D basically came for free. The built-in-WIFI is pretty awesome. I routinely use Pandora and YouTube on it and it works flawlessly. Be sure to go on-line and registry the online material before trying to use or it will not work. My only complaint about the TV is that I had to assign it its own IP address for internet content to work properly. No big deal to do, just a pain when all the content should have worked without having to do that. With this TV I purchased the Sony Blu-Ray S480 and Sony HT150 SoundBar with Subwoofer. All three of them work flawlessly together and have never had a hick-up out of them. I put the Sound as a con from the TV because it was horrible without the soundbar, plan on buying one! But I didn’t expect much from tv speakers that are only 1.5â€ thick and neither should you. I would recommend the Sony HT-150 soundbar with subwoofer. It sounds great for what it is. It is not a full 5 speaker surround system, but the sound and bass are good for a living room or bonus room. The best part of the sound system is the built-in HDMI switch. You plug your HDMI sources (Sat / Cable box, Blu-Ray, DVD) into the subwoofer and run one HDMI cable to the TV. The Bravia Sync feature of the TV is awesome â€" turn on the Blu-Ray Player and it automatically switches inputs! One more note â€" I was weary of buying from Sony.com because I didn’t know how a 55â€ TV would be handled during shipping, especially during the holiday season. Sony uses a smaller company (not UPS, FedEx, or USPS) to ship the TV by freight. It arrived on time, with very minimal scuff markings on the box (probably less than there would be picking it up yourself from a box store), and everything was perfectly packaged with no damage. BUY THIS TV, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!
GREAT TV and Incredible 3D!

I've stayed with the Sony brand with few exceptions during my life. The 55HX729 has a beautifully uniform panel, no flash lighting, great picture requiring very few out of the box tweaks (I removed Ambient Sensor) and selected neutral for cinema color. The 3D is exceptional. Unfortunately the Sony display at Best Buy wasn't set correctly and didn't present how well the TV does 3D. I experienced no flicker in 3D even with blinds partially open and some room lamps on. Cross talk was non existent to very minimal based on content. it is true that you must keep your head level to enjoy the 3D experience but unlike LG, it's full HD and BRIGHT! I watched Bizet's "Carmen" produced by RealD and the Royal Opera House shot in 3D HD video and it was breath taking. IMAX "Under The Sea" is short but does demo how objects and creatures such as fish can appear to swim two feet towards you! Setting up the WIFI was simple as was enabling Netflix which is on everything i own except the toaster! This TV has EVERYTHING the HX820 has except for the Gorilla Glass with OptiContrast . I actually prefer this set and really love it. it's my third Sony LCD TV purchased over theyears and the best!

This TV has an unreal picture.quality. The clarity is so clear, it makes wacthing HD movies seem like you are watching a soap Opera episode. The 3D is crazy sick! The children and I love it. DO NOT HESITATE to purchase this TV.......well worth it. The manual is a little weak in showing and explaining the other function of this TV...It took me 2 days to figure everything out.
