Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
relatively cheap for it's function, however in comparison with other models I've previously used (switchview 4, etc.) this model lacks a bit in technical and ease. Installation, as with all other devices of this nature require the standard coordination of hook and boot. However, when switching between systems that have different screen resolutions, the port seemingly hangs on a blank screen. Further, there is only one individual light per port to indicate selection. not which ones are active - other models switch over better(without the resolution problem), and have more indicator lights showing how many ports are active AS WELL AS the port you are currently on.Service - the Avocent online knowledgebase and knowledgebase archive are laughable so don't plan to get much help there. the above information came from a few hours of frustrated experimentation and head-scratching using two identical 100's and 2 pairs of workstation settings.wrap up - so...if you like to tinker, don't have a schedule to keep, can deal with the troubleshooting without assistance, and are on a budget, then this is a pretty good product. Otherwise, I'd spend about 30 bucks more and lessen the stress. Then again, maybe after this message, you'll know all you need to know...in which case this device is just for you!
