Pros:
Great sound, Looks great, Plenty of inputs, single hdmi output to tv
Cons:
don't like the gui, drops hdmi signal from time to time
Picked up the S570 wifi blu ray player. The Strdn 1010 seem like a good match for it. Paired the reciever with a set of bose 201's for the front and vcs30 bose center channel and surround package, and of course a powered subwoofer. Makes for a great 5.1 setup. Very happy with the results. The auto calibration does a great job. Yes my tv is sony too, but an older model and only has 1 hdmi input which was my excuse for having to buy a reciever. HD DVR was connected by hdmi also so i was constantly manually plugging and unplugging the blu ray player, which got old really fast. This reciever solved that problem with the single hdmi out to tv and the audio return channel. I have owned it for about 2 months now and feel great about all the purchases. Just like another review i was bummed about the remote. it has a bd button and i can't use it to control my sony blu-ray because i prefer to use the hdmi input, but it does switch sources automatically when i turn on the blu ray which is pretty cool. Overall great product!

Pros:
3D pass-thru, Great sound
Cons:
I explain., It took 2 weeks before I was able to figure out how to bypass the GUI on-screen display. In review
You have to really read the user guide to fully take advantage all the features this unit haves to offer. Not only read but really "play" with the settings to understand what they do. It didn't hurt that this is my 3rd AV Receiver from Sony, so I had a "hit the ground running" knowledge when it came to setting this thing up. I bought this receiver because of the 3D pass-thru and the fact I've always owed Sony AVR's and been pleased every time.

Cons:
the lack of a full explanation of speaker connection options
I am not up on the latest technology and nowhere will you find this information in the manual or online BUT this stereo does accept banana plugs for the speaker connection to the receiver. The manual shows only a binding post setup.

This was my first receiver after a very long time. I debated between different receivers and cost was a factor. My TV is not 3D, so I did not buy it for that reason. The Sony Style website advertised Sony SA-VS310 Home Theater System to go with this receiver - although these speakers are 5.1 while the receiver is able to handle 7.1. So I bought a set of pioneer speakers (Pioneer SP-BS41) along with the SA-VS310 to make a total of 7.1. I bought all of the above at a discount in November - all are at least 30% more now. Anyways, after hooking up the speakers, I called Sony (61-800-222-7669)and they walked me through setting it up with my Sony TV, PS3 an Comcast cable box. The support line is pretty good and does ask you for warranty information - unlike other brands. They are based somewhere in Philipines. It took an entire evening to setup the system. Make sure you ask for the Sony special support for the speakers - some are better than others. The little microphone that comes with it automatically configures the theater system based on where you put it. The GUI system lets you do most of the configuring through your TV screen, though there some parts that we had to do it through the receiver screen. One cool thing is that only one HDMI connects the receiver to the TV - you can control the TV with the receiver to some degree e.g. when I turn off my cable box both the receiver and TV turns off. I have no gripes, except that now I have way too many remotes. PS3 remote is not compatible with other remotes and comcast is poorly designed from users point of view. The sound quality is amazing for the price I paid for this receiver [$]. One Overall, I am very satisfied with performance and the speakers are aesthetically designed.
