This is a great no frills receiver for a garage/workshop area for basic music/radio. For a while, nobody was making a simple 2 channel unit without the uber surround sound features for around a C-note. My 35 year old Electro-Voice bookshop speakers sound great with this unit behind it.

Pros:
Great receiver. Good Sound
This is a nice basic system. The setup menu is small, as mentioned before, since there's no on-screen display. But, it's OK if I put on my glasses. The maddening thing is that the receiver does not support High Definition Content Protection. I have Dish network, and if you want to purchase a PPV movie, you can't, because the receiver is not passing back the signal that says you have HDCP. To get around this, I finally had to hard-wire the Dish to the TV using the HDMI cable, and then use optical-out from the TV to the receiver. This doesn't allow you to make full use of the switching ability of the receiver, so it's kind of frustrating. This means I have to keep the remote for the TV out also, so I can switch between inputs: one for Dish, another for everything else. If there's a way around this, or a setting I'm missing, I'd love to hear about it.

Pros:
easy hook-up operation, Great Features, Powerful, reasonable price
Cons:
speaker balance control only available on the remote but that's where you want it
This was a perfect replacement for my 20 year old stereo audio receiver which died. It is a 2 channel receiver and perfect for stereo sound in my living room. My CD turntable player hooked right up and I purchased the optional i-pod deck which plugs right in the back. Now I can play my i-pod through my stereo system and this unit's remote also controls the ipod functions-sweet! The 100W/ ch. is much more than needed to drive my old Advent Prodigy Tower speakers which sound fantastic with this receiver. It's so loud, I haven't even attempted full volume in a 20'X27" room. The FM reception is equally as impressive. Highly recommended for the price. Still exploring the other features.
Can Sony get any better, don't think so...

I was so lucky to have found this combination, the only thing better is Jessica Rabbit and that's only because I want to see if I can make her eyes bulge out. and with this system I could probably make a lot of things on her bulge out!
