Better sound than i thought. I used to play my cd's through my dvd player sony sr 500 and it sounded good. I kept reading reviews on getting a cd player , but wasn't sure if there was a difference on sound quality. why should there be? i was using my hdmi out on my dvd player to my onkyo sr608 reciever and it sounded great i guess. i looked at single dedicated cd players but i didnt like getting up and changing cd's. So i needed a multi changer. 5 disc nah. 300 disc oh yes. Sound quality was bright , music was clearer, and bass was deeper. Dont know why cd's sound better in a cd player vs dvd player.Even my copied cd's sounded better. But there is a difference u can hear and feel. If u like LISTENING to music get this.

i have 2 of these units and I just love them! They hold all of my CD's and the great thing is that I only have to use one remote to control both units. It's like having my very own jukebox except that I don't need any spare change every time to listen to my music! I love the fact that I can also group my CD's by genre which is very helpful. The only thing is that I have to use a list of what CD's I have so I know where they are inside of the player. Otherwise it's like looking for a needle in a haystack when looking for a particular disc. Once I find the disc that I'm looking for I can usually find the song that I want to hear with no problem.

Pros:
Organizing, Size, Sound
Cons:
This is the CDDB age. This thing's data entry...On 300 CDs.
This thing seriously needs a refresh. Obviously the marketing bozos at this once great company haven't figured out how to integrate this product with the brave new digital world. Okay, some thoughts --
Best CD Player I've Owned

I recently purchased this product to replace a Panasonic product that stopped working after 60 days. I have other Sony components and thought I should try this one. I am very pleased with this product. Easy to operate, load and program. I don't have a keyboard with which I could enter info, but it's so easy to do with the remote, it took no time to catalog and group 300 CD's. I purchased this player from an authorized dealer (Vann's, Inc.) for $169.99 with free S/H! I am also very pleased with the dealer. Note: Keep a list of your CD's in the order or group they have been loaded in, just in case the power fails! If you group your CD's according to this list, it's super easy to locate a particular CD/track. If my RCA surround sound system fails, I will replace it with a Sony component. I have NEVER written a review of ANY product I have ever written. That is how pleased I am with this one. Note: Check ALL of the authorized dealers' web pages before buying. There are different prices that vary by several hundred dollars. Vann's, Inc. had the best price and terms.

This is kind of an outrageous design, but why not? It is fun, and if you are willing to throw away or store your CD cases somewhere, it can save you a lot of storage space. Buy a cheap generic PC keyboard for it and type in your CD titles. It sounds as good as any CD player I have ever had. You will have new enjoyment of your CD collection, and at this price, it is easy to try one out.
