Product Reviews for Sony VGP-PRZ10 Docking Station
from Palo Alto, CA on 4/11/2010
It's a docking station...
It's dysfunctional. Period.
Sony arguably misrepresents its docking station. Their website states, "Attach all of your peripherals including mouse, network cable and printer with this VAIO docking station." Yet, having just spent short of 4K on a high-end Vaio with an internal $500 Blu-Ray player, I find that the docking station won't support (what is becoming standard) HD. What a waste.
Horrible external resolution

What is wrong with Sony!!! First they ganked VT in bios, now they enabled it, but ganked the max resolution on the DVI to 1080p? The port itself looks like it supports dual-link dvi to drive anything bigger than a 23" widescreen, but guess what? The stupid dock doesn't support it!! No dual-monitor support through VGA either. That means if you have anything that is bigger than a 23" monitor, you're screwed with this dock and your high 2k laptop.
Still haven't taken user reviews into account

Well, here's a plus--Sony finally decided to listen to its reviewers and added an AC adpter to the docking station. This is extremely helpful. But, they forgot one major thing, the speaker out! You still have to connect, disconnect and/or reconnect speaker cables every time you dock or undock. Extremely painful. Uf. And, as of yet, no HDMI out, but you can access the HDMI port of the laptop even when it's docked, but still . . . .
