No, I would not recommend this to a friend
This product is not USB as advertised, it's an RS232 scanner with a USB port. That means no USB support in Vista or Win 7. This only works in xp/ME/2K and you need to write your own code using the symbol SDK. It's clearly advertised that you can "make a shopping list" but not clearly mentioned that you need to write your own code to get the barcodes off the scanner. Waste of Time.
