Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
I probably use the Garmin more for local areas that I am unfamilar with. It is also great for finding the shortest route when I travel long distances. The speed limit indicator is very helpful when you enter the road and there is no speed limit sign. Wish that it had came with a case and home cord for charging. I have had a Garman NUVI 350 before but the 1350 is much better.
