Fine home office printer. Noisy, slow, prints only color, no draft mode to save time or ink, but the "SCAN" function is ridiculous. Not once have I been able to get it to work easily. Default is tiny photograph scan. Really poor.

I now own TWO of these printers and love them! I operate a one man office in my home and have found this to be the best printer of MANY that I have tried. Cartridges last a LOT longer than most printers and the print speed is very fast. Not sure I'd use it to print pictures but for B&W documents, it's awesome!

The printer works great, setup easy. Print quality good. Only problem sending E-Mails to printer. Registered it with epson connect and received printer e-mail address but when e-mail sent get invalid e-mail address .looked at error did not apply. Could not figure out how to talk to support. Everything else good

I've had 3 4540s. I generally like the concept of getting away from lasers with the associated problems of replacing the cartridges and drums. The first 4540 I had went back as it constantly jammed the paper. The other 2 that I have seemingly do not have this problem. The only real problem that I have with the machines is that they are not as fast as "advertised".

This printer was great. I bought it in March 2012 and had only printed 637 pages total when all of the sudden it starts spraying yellow ink stripes from the top of the page to the bottom. I went to the Epson Support site to see their resolution for this problem ad found nothing. However in the reviews I found where others were experiencing the same problem. I then googled the issue and found review after review describing the same yellow ink problem. I also found a YouTube Video showing the problem in great detail. It will be difficult to buy another Epson printer considering this problem after the printing of only 637 pages. I have also seen others responding that Epson has pulled the replacement parts from parts sites without offering a substitute part that doesn't have the problem. After replacing the ink cartridges, my final cost per page was approximately 85 cents each. !Outrageous! Buyer Beware!!!
