No, I would not recommend this to a friend
I bought the printer mostly to scan loan documents to pdf files. I wanted two trays so the printer would auto select legal or letter size. The scanner requires me to go in each time and select crop document or it will add white space to fill from the edge of the paper to the end of the scan bed. The printer requires me to select the paper size for legal each time and select the paper tray with the legal in it each time. No automation at all. Terrible.

I was in the market for an all-in-one laser printerThen I was told that the cost of consumables is actually cheaper for this inkjet all-in-one printer then a comparable laserThis printer is very fast and the touchscreen front panel is very easy to usevery happy so far

Scanning is great to have this capability. Front display is simple and straight forward even my wife can use it. Legal is a must and phote capability is great. My recommendation got several other people to purchase one from PC Rush.
