Wavespeed/S utilizes Bluetooth technology to offer a secure, standards-based solution toenable wireless RS-232 serial cable replacement between a peripheral device and a host.This standalone solution is transparent to the host application software - it acts as theserial cable and transfers data wirelessly without special software or drivers. Wavespeed/Sis designed for use in either bonding mode or Serial Port Profile (SPP) server mode.

In bonding mode, two Wavespeed/S adapters are paired together, forming a wireless linkfor instant serial cable replacement. One Wavespeed/S is connected to a host PC; the otheris attached to a serial peripheral device like a bar-code scanner, receipt printer or scale.Following configuration, these two Wavespeed/S adapters transfer information betweenthe host and device, just as if they were joined by a hardwired serial cable. Alternatively,a single Wavespeed/S adapter may be used in SPP server mode. In this mode, Wavespeed/Swill make an SPP connection with any SPP-capable Bluetooth device, such as a PDA,PLC or WAN radio.
