I've used Epson products since 1996 when I bought my first flatbed scanner, the name of which eludes me now but it was followed by the Perfection 'Something' 5-6 years later. Same with printers. Epson always aimed for excellent quality with a price that was affordable to the average person like myself. Nothing has changed. This WP-4020 is excellent; a breeze to set up and connect to my wireless network and great color printing right after. A number 1 recommendation from that independent rating organization too, which I found out after my purchase. Had something like $.03/page cost for a full page (can't remember exactly) ... wonderfully economic. And I bought the Perfection V33 scanner around a year and a half ago. It's another great device (I like single function devices for some unknown reason) that is wonderfully economic with excellent quality. Oh, and while the FAQ says it's not designed for full page labels, I used the most well known company's labels that has "Ink Jet Labels Specifically Designed for popular ink jet printers" on the box and they worked great - for me. I'm not advocating anything contrary to what Epson officially states! Finally, the built in wireless stays connected anywhere in my house and the printer has the WPS button same as my router so it was only a two button press to connect.

I bought the WP 4020 in late August, 2012. I printed somewhere in the neighborhood of 100 sheets, mostly B&W but also some color. In late September, the Yellow starter cartridge was virtually still unused but when printing a photo graph the colors were skewed towards the blue and the yellow print head was no longer ejecting ink. I called Epson since the unit was virtually new and after about 1 hour of trying a variety of different head cleaning manuevers, they decided the printer was defective. They shipped a new unti to me and told me I didn't have to return the defective unit. I am happy to have the new printer and it is still working after 3 days, but am concerned about the durability of this printer model. I hope it continues to function, but if it quits again, I hope it does that while still under warranty. The new printer does a good job with both color and black and white output. In addition, it is very, very fast for an inkjet printer and the duplex capability is a great feature for such an inexpensive printer. I assume that money lost on producing the printer will be made up when buying new ink.

The product seems to be working fine. I have no complaints with the printer but do have an issue with the lack of ink put into a new printer. See my evaluation below.

Unbelievably complicated wireless

Comments about Epson WorkForce Pro WP-4020 Multifunction Printer:
I am a big pc geek and took me longer to get setup then implementing an entire active directory! First, Im giving this a 3 as the printer is well designed and works like a champ. I your intent is to use as a USB printer or LAN printer, then it would be rated a 5. It has the worst setup instruction to set this up with wireless, matter of fact i gave up on trying and just connected a cat6 lan line to get it done. I bought the printer with wireless in mind but it is just a fustrating ordeal. I dont know if its because my wireless is wpa2 but it finds the printer initially, but it just wont complete the setup via the installation application. What makes it worse, is the wording in the setup is so obscure that you never could find the area to setup the wireless. Buyer beware, You NEED a USB cable no matter if you intend to use wireless. You cannot setup the printer unless it is connected with the USB. Epson you haveto do better whem it comes to wireless, HP has a very simple interface to type in the wireless settings. To do thus indirect USB approach is probably the worst design I have ever seen, and in my case, just does not work!

Comments about Epson WorkForce Pro WP-4020 Multifunction Printer:
Though the Epson WorkForce Pro WP-4020 is larger than expected, it is every thing I hoped for. I am impressed with its ability to produce both light and heavy jobs, by selection of resolution, and the cost of the larger ink cartriges is affordable and very efficient in use. I'm impressed with the photo paper high-res prints and clarity. Being an office duty printer, it's especially impressive in my small office use. The WP-4020 WorkForce Pro is also a work-horse!

Workforce Pros are nice inkjets!!!

Comments about Epson WorkForce Pro WP-4020 Multifunction Printer:
Even though I had a paper feed issue occur with my WP-4020 I'm impressed with the print quality and speed of this printer. Truly a great value and the pigment inks provide laser like quality even on plain paper. I would like to see the standard paper capacity increased to hold 500 pages of 28 lb paper as well as the output tray. That way high volume unattended printing would be possible at a remarkable price. I'm hoping that Epson is able to create a page wide piezo printhead someday to push the limits of desktop printing past the speed of lasers.

Bad Choice.

Comments about Epson WorkForce Pro WP-4020 Multifunction Printer:
I'm on a Mac and I've have had many Epson printers in the past; always been happy with their performance, for the most part. Replacing a wireless printer I've had for a couple years, I had high expectations for this one. Not to be. Set-up was pretty straight forward, but getting it to be recognized by the network took some work. When I had everything connected, it would not print; kept getting an error in the print query. Could find no explanation for it and nothing I did solved the problem. After three hours of messing with this clunker, I took it back to the store and got a different printer. Bad show Epson

Works Good, But...

Comments about Epson WorkForce Pro WP-4020 Multifunction Printer:
I have had my printer for about 4 months now. It does everything that I need it to do, and everything that it is supposed to do...except for the problem I've been having recently. The last few days I've tried to print multiple pages (5+), some of the blank pages stick together during the printing process. This makes me have to collect the extra sheets and reload the printer every 4 pages that get printed. If there was a way to solve this, this printer would get 5 stars from me.

WP-4020 on home LAN

Comments about Epson WorkForce Pro WP-4020 Multifunction Printer:
Installed as WIFI connected device. This printer is used by computers running XP, Vista, Linux (Debian, Ubuntu, Mint), OS X on G4, and OS X on Intel. It is used in a development environment. WIFI setup was performed from an XP netbook using a USB connection. Very easy. All other driver installations were painless. The Linux driver needed to be downloaded from the Epson web site. I would recommend including these on the setup CD. WIFI setup would have been difficult if the OS environment were only Linux. Print from all of the machines (8) is perfect.

Comments about Epson WorkForce Pro WP-4020 Multifunction Printer:
It prints. Just prints. Very, very well indeed, thank you. Simple, sturdy, ultra-high ink capacity. Great. No bells & whistles and glad of it. Now, if it only had as sturdy a paper bail, and if you could purchase ANY replacement parts, it would be a world beater. Hence four instead of five stars.
