The printer is very sophisticated. It has a feature reducing the likelihood and severity of the problem of ink drying on the jets (ports?), which is what killed my old, reliable, accurate R800, a real pleasure to use. The R2000, however, arrived and, after all of my time to unwrap and un-tape it, then to install the 8 cartridges and the software, the test print failed because "a script failed." I tried to do a "real" print from my photo software, but the printer registered a blocked print head. I was instructed to remove the paper or other foreign material. There was no paper. It had never had paper in it until I tried the test print, and it had still not fed the paper. I uninstalled all the software and re-installed it, and the same problems occurred. It's dead on arrival. I am an EPSON person, but this level of quality assurance was not inspiring. HOWEVER... I called EPSON, and after some confusion about e-mailing of receipts, the company did all one can ask for from a printer maker: they sent me a brand new replacement, BEFORE I returned the defective one, told me to keep the ink cartridges, and arranged for return of the defective printer, all without charge. Go, EPSON! The new one arrived in 3 days, and it is working just fine. Beautiful, archival prints, superb blacks, all it is supposed to be. Thank you, Epson.

I bought this printer for graphic printing, not for photos, and I print on matte paper, so I don't need the gloss optimizer, but there isn't any way for me to opt out of using that, as far as I can tell. My print settings and printer dialogue box do not look like the one in the booklet and that option isn't given. As a result, I used up all the gloss optimizer in a very short time -- when all the inks were still at about 90% capacity -- and then could not print anymore because that cartridge was empty. This is a pain when I'm trying to get cards printed for an upcoming craft show and I don't need them to be glossy anyway. I have also been unable to get the colors to come true. I'm printing from Adobe Illustrator, and I tried various options for the color management, but none of them look very good, and the blacks in my black line drawings come out gray. Ironically, I have none of these troubles with my cheaper Epson printer, the Workforce 610, nor with my old PhotoStylus 1280, so I assumed I would be as happy with this printer as I have been with those. The Workforce printer can't handle heavy card stock, and even with the lighter card stock, which it will print on, I end up having to clean the printer heads often to keep the print quality up. I had thought that this being a photo printer and more heavy duty, it would give me consistently better print quality, but it's not working out that way. I know Epson wants me to use their papers, but I've never had to resort to that before, and a printer that is so fussy it won't print decently on generic paper is too fussy for me.

Limited function

Comments about Epson Stylus Photo R2000 Inkjet Printer:
For a printer in this size and price range I would expect to be able to print greeting cards but the sofware and guide settings do not support that size. Paper sizes seem to be designed around Epson unique paper offerings. If you forget to open the front door nothing happens, printer does not print, no messages on PC, no blinking on printer, nothing to tell you to open the door.

Simular to the R 1900 with the addition of WiFi ithernet allowing us to network our three computers and I Pad.. I like the overall service level we receive from Epson when contacted with issues or hardware concerns. Printer maintenance is an issue we are not completely sure we understand. Our key requirement is service over the long term.

I used the R2000 to print 12x12 scrapbook pages. The quality is great - almost looks like photos were pasted and layered on the page.

Comments about Epson Stylus Photo R2000 Inkjet Printer:
Epson Stylus Photo R2000 Inkjet Printer is a great printer, the only problem I have is when using a roll of paper is to aligning the paper to feed and print properly, the roller in the back is poorly made and flimsy, once I figured out how to manipulate the roll it works great. Prints very good pictures I use for printing decals.

Comments about Epson Stylus Photo R2000 Inkjet Printer:
I have been processing my own photo's now for at least 9 years. This is my 3rd printer. I started with the R1800, then went to the R1900. When it started giving me problems with banding (after 4 years of use), I brought the R2000. I just completed setting it up. It took me longer to set up as I have a Mac 10.6.8. I control color management with a spider 3. After following the initial set up instructions, I thought everything was fine, but the photo's were dark and missing colors. I went into the Epson support web site and followed the manual instructions and was unable to turn off the R2000 printer controls so that photoshop could control the colors as recommended . I could see the screen while in photoshop but was unable to set the control as the item was grayed out. On the second call to Epson tech support, we found that the printer could be shut off in the Text Edit program since that was a Mac program.. Once that was done, the photoshop colors shined thru beautifully and I have had no further issues. The pictures are professional quality. with the R1900 the photo's were darker and it seemed that I always had to brighten up the photo's before printing. They didn't appear to match the image on the computer even after calibration with the Spider 3. But with the R2000 I don't seem to have that problem and am happy to say that now I know that photoshop (CS5) is working properly and no adjustment is necessary. There is no longer an issue of brightening up the photo before print After 2 days of fiddling with the controls and 2 calls to Epson support ( which was very helpful), I can now say that I am very happy with the R2000

I bought the Epson R2000. The output is fantastic but very disappointed as to how slow it is. Even doing documents in black and white, very slow.

Great home printer

Comments about Epson Stylus Photo R2000 Inkjet Printer:
I bought the R2000 last fall and love it. It prints equal to or better than the prints I was sending out to professional labs. The set up was very easy. Inks last a long time and when you do need to change them it's quite simple. The only thing I would like better on this printer is if it would print wider than 13". But I knew this when I bought it. I would buy this printer again and have already recommended it to someone else.
