I received this system and a Bravia tv as a gift for Christmas. It replaced a 13 year old 200lb tv, and an old pioneer stereo set, equally old. If you want something modern, good quality, and affordable this is it. The setup won't take very long as long as you're using HDMI for both the tv and the cable box, maybe 10 minutes. Configuring it to your setup is what takes the real time. All of the pieces are small and light. Also a plus, both the tv and blu ray remotes work for both systems - I hate setting up remotes and I didn't have to. :) Being able to browse the internet, use my iPhone as a remote, and play my Pandora stations in my living room have all made this a fanastically usable product. I may even cancel cable and start using netflix and hulu instead. Maybe. It's just so very accessible for usage with everyday media! This isn't to say I'm not still looking at a Paradigm sound system for top notch audio, but until i have thousands to burn, this is just perfect for entertaining the average listener with above average sound. I will also be able to connect my macbook's minidisplay port to hdmi so I can play anything I download. I haven't tested it yet, though I trust it will work as it's a fairly simple connection. On the negative side - if I want to use the cable box setup in the instructions the bluray player has to be turned on and set to hdmi input 1. Not a lot of a work, but more work than other features. I may end up putting the cable box's hdmi right into the tv. Also, I didn't get a Harry Potter 3D discount?? Someone proofing this want to send that over? ;) The Bravia tv is also very good too - light, bright, and vivid. Overall this was a great gift! I'll be watching every movie I own as though I've never seen or heard it before. Good deal.

I received this as a gift to replace my 10 year old unit which had no HDMI. I hooked everything up and the unit displayed "protector/push power" and then went into standby. The book indicates this is some kind of short in the speakers or the cooling vents could be blocked. Although its not advised I took the cover off and checked the connections inside. I found a connector from the power board was partially unplugged and was most likely the cause. No problems since and I avoided having to pack up all the stuff and take it back. Other than the assembly mistake it works great. A lot better sound than what I had.

2 OUT PUTS FOR HDMI CAUGHT MY ATTENTION. I HAD A PANASONIC BTT-250 WITH SAME WATTAGE AND IT DIDNT SOUND NEAR AS GOOD. I HAVE TO SAY THIS IS THE BEST SURROUND SOUND SYSTEM I'VE BOUGHT PUTS A SMILE ON MY FACE WHEN EVER I TURN IT ON. WISH IT HAD 2 OPTICALS AND USB OUT PUTS BUT OTHER THAN THAT VERY HAPPY WITH IT

I live in a small studio apartment. The living space portion of my apt where I have this set up is about 12x20. Obviously in this small space this system is fantastic. I didn't so much want a surround system for loudness but for the surround sound effects. Everything sounds great and crystal clear once everything is on the proper settings. I only put the volume no more than half way and it's more than enough to fill the room. I worry about complaining neighbors so I set the sub woofer to it's lowest setting, yet it still gives a decent rumble that doesn't bother anyone.

I bought this unit to hook up to my Sony Bravia TV HD 3D KDL-46EX720 so that I could take advantage of all my features of my new TV and my components. First the unpacking and figuring out how to connect went VERY easy with a quick reference and I Highly suggest that you go all HDMI hookups to make it a breeze since the hardest part then is just placing speakers and running the wires (plenty of wire BTW) to the unit. All speakers are labeled with a matching color to each output of the unit. I used my 2 HDMI Inputs for my HDTV DVR and my XBOX 360 then ran the HDMI Output to my TV. I had purchased a WiFi Dongle ( seperatly ) for connection to my router. At this time it took like 20 minutes to hookup and run the speaker wire and was ready to power it on. I had my TV set to HDMI 1 and turned it on then plugged in my home unit and it powered right up and I got a setup picture to run through the configuration. If you went HDMI the you just select easy setup and you answer a few questions and it does the rest. Since I had a Bravia TV it synced with the home unit to switch it's speakers over and makes it possible to control with either remote. When I turn on/off the TV or Home Unit the other auto turns on/off with it. The Wifi network was a breeze to setup by just having it scan for my network then asked for my encrypted password and went to town connecting and making it's way to the internet. After connection and downloading all the goodies like Netscape, Hulu, You tube, etc it then told me a new firmware upgrade was available and wanted permission to upgrade which I did and it went flawless. I then tested out my Cable box which can control everything so I only need 1 remote to watch TV. I can then just hit the function button on the home unit and brought up my XBOX then went to FM and programmed my local radio stations (need to hook up supplied antenna), logged into my Netflix account to set up my unit and it was a breeze and now enjoying my streaming movies, Put in a BluRay movie that started it up very quickly looked and sounded awesome with 1080p and 5.1 connection. I also have a IPod/IPhone docking station which I have not used yet but will update later. Well since unpacking to use it took me like 1 to 1 1/2 hrs to have it all working and it all works as advertised and I am one happy camper! So if you want a great unit for a small room like a apartment, bedroom or office this is the unit for you since I could not find a unit out there that had all the functions that this has. If you have a Sony TV then it is very simple to sync the two together as on big unit!
