I have it for more than a year and I really haven't had any issues. Not sure if it has to do with the firmware upgrades or what, the sound and picture are really excellent. I was scared to read some of the comments when I was buyng it, but listening to the sound quality after a firmware upgrade today I came back to this site to find about the upgrade and ended up writing this review.

I love this purchase, I only wish I'd known how Netflix would function with it - this was a big reason for the purchase, and you can only view movies already in your queue. You cannot search titles like on the Wii for instance - come on Sony - run an update!! The sound is great though, and I found the speaker wires were adequate in length. Also, the WiFi adapter being included is what really made the package seem a great deal - other stand alone blu rays cost half as much and charge a bundle to get the wifi adapter - so here it's like you're getting the speakers for free!

Now you will have to go online and sign up for some of these things,but they tell you where to go and what to do with no problem, and as far as theater sound we watch unstopable last night and it sounded like the train was comming through our living room it was great you could feel the couch shaking.

This home theater in a box by far blew me away. It's absolutely jam packed with features and everything just amazing. Setup is a breeze, and the automatic sound calibration made my awkward speaker setup sound phenomenal. The rear surround speaker cables were plenty long and I expected them to not reach, but they did. I paired this system with my existing Bravia TV, and it just made getting a movie started up and ready to go as easy as pressing one button. Set aside all these positive things, I was a little disappointed in the FM Tuner, because the navigation of it is tedious. The tuner changes stations in .10 steps, and you can't hold down the button to scan, you have to click it several times to get to the station desired. There's no number pad input either. I'd love to see this issue resolved in an update though. Also, I noticed that when I navigate through the Youtube interface, not all videos are displayed on the application as you would find on a computer. This is really disappointing when I'm pretty sure the only videos it shows are in HD, which doesn't really make the library very large. Regardless, this system is phenomenal and is a must buy.

I set out to find a low cost option to augment my home audio and started with sound bars but ended up with basic 5.1 surround in the form of the HT-E570. I'm really glad I did. The soundbars aren't bad, but they just don't impress either... the 350 series soundbar sounds much better than the 150, but nonetheless I returned them to go with this E570 surround.
The setup was not complicated if you have basic technical skills; it took about 30 min to unbox, set up wires, and do the setup procedure. The last step of the setup is an audio calibration which helps optimize volume output relative to speaker placement; cool technology bonus.
There aren't many adjustment options on this system; no individual bass and treble controls for example. But there are several surround modes and audio type presets (movie mode, game mode, etc). To be honest, I can't tell much difference between them. Switching around different inputs between my Xbox, panasonic TV, the wireless network on the player and the bluray player gets a bit complicated and I find myself thinking about how to run everything; I'm sure a Bravia TV and Playstation option might make it more integrated. If you're mixing and matching like I am you just have to think through how to go from input to input.
But some good things: Respectable surround sound at bargain pricing. Lots of features! The fact that this unit includes wireless, a bluray player, 5.1 surround, and 1000W is actually quite impressive for the price. Easy setup.
The audio is sufficient for my 15x10 living room. It's loud enough, but the depth of sound is not amazing if you're a self proclaimed audiophile; these speakers seem to weigh less than 2 lbs each and the sub is not that heavy either. Audio is clear but not rich. The surround effect is therefore noticeable but muted; you won't be turning your head in Avatar for example but you can tell that something is flying from left to right or front to back (placement helps; I have a medium sized small living room). Don't expect theater performance, but expect waaaaaay better then your flatscreen's native audio or better surround effects than a soundbar can offer (I tried them both).
wireless features were easy to set up as long as your laptop is in front of you and I got netflix and pandora working in minutes. Netflix movies do have stereo effect.
Bluray player worked faster than my old bluray (from 2 years ago), but out of the box, the system stalled and I had to restart the whole thing when testing bluray. When I did I checked and found a software upgrade which I quickly installed. Have not had a problem since.
With this system basic dsl is just enough speed to load netflix; faster connection speed would help; I can't for example, check my email while a netflix movie is loading. I have to wait till the movie starts.
To sum it up, I would recommend this system if you're trying to get a better than bottom dollar audio option. You can go cheaper without the bluray player or the surround effect, but I think the bluray, wireless, and 5.1 make this a pretty impressive package. But you'd want to take advantage of the wireless to make it worthwhile; otherwise the 370 might be a better option for $100 less.
I got this at the sony style store in Palo alto for less than the big box store price. But their optical wires are expensive there. at least HDMI was on sale! Oh yes... you need both of those; an additional $40 minimum extra stuff to buy.

Just bought the system and installed last night. So far a great combination with the Bravia TV. Great sound and an easy remote system that is linked with the TV. The DVD quality is excellent and the wireless connection and streaming work great with Netflix and the other streaming channels.

Shopping for a long time for just the right quality and affordable system. PC rush beat all the rest. Relatively easy setup. Great sound really enhances the movie experience and the bluray player works flawlessly. Almost bought a yamaha system with separate bluray. This was a better deal and kept my component shelf down by one item since bluray and amp all in one.

I bought this unit to upgrade my old RCA surround sound that I bought 8 yrs ago. I set it up as soon as I got it home and couldn't wait to watch my first blueray movie. Great sound, my only disappointment is I can't find any speaker stands or mounting brackets. I've looked everywhere, even Sony doesn't carry stands or brackets for the speakers. I prefer stands, however I can always hang it on a nail or screw because there are slots on the back of the speakers.
