I ride my bike to/from work 13 miles each direction every day and I like to listen to podcasts or audiobooks on my iphone and I occasionally need to take a call or participate in an early morning meeting. These are ideal for the podcast/books use-case, but since they don't have headset capability they really don't work for the phone -- I've tried an accessory that plugs in-line and handles the phone part, but it doesn't fit well in my bike's iPhone case and it's really inconvenient. I'd love to have these with headset/mic integration! They're really the first headphones I've found that I feel safe using on the bike, I can hear the world around me but it doesn't drown out the podcast/book sound.

    Not Bad

    By CandyLD

Comments about Sony MDR-AS20J Stereo Earphone:

I bought these about a year ago and love them. They were great for the price and stay on well. But over time one earbud got to have a lower volume. I think i'll shell out the money for a more expensive pair this time.

Best Bang for $ and WAY Comfortable

    By hfh5

Comments about Sony MDR-AS20J Stereo Earphone:

These are the best sport headphones I can find for the money! Great sound quality compared to Skullcandy, JVC and other price competitors and the headphones comfortably stay in my ears when I'm active. I prefer these any day over ear buds that constantly fall out and give me a headache after prolonged listening. SONY REALLY NEEDS TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF THE WIRE/WIRE COATING THOUGH. For a sport headphone you would think the wiring would be more durable... I'd definitely pay the extra $ for a braided wire coating.

Comments about Sony MDR-AS20J Stereo Earphone:

Not only does the right ear bud short out as soon as a drop of sweat touches them, they constantly keep coming out of my ears. This happens EVERY time I work out. Since I work for a living, I don't have time to keep going to a store to buy new headphones, therefore I've become an expert on how horrible these are because I'm forced to use them!! I look forward to the day that I can hear my music while I workout.

          DO NOT PURCHASE

          By AinOKC

Comments about Sony MDR-AS20J Stereo Earphone:

I bought a pair of these and after about a month of use I noticed the right earbud began to lose sound quality and is now completely inoperable. I will not purchase these again and would advise others not to as well.

Right side dead, wire stripped by clip

          By Warren

          from Washington, DC

          Pros

          • Good sound
          • Great for running
          • Light

          Cons

          • Right side went dead; poor quality materials

          Best Uses

Comments about Sony MDR-AS20J Stereo Earphone:

As opposed to most negative reviews, the left speaker still sounds great. It's the right one that went dead. I guess this shows that not all left speakers are bad.
Also, the clip meant to hold the cable to the shirt, sleeve, etc. allows for the cable to move within a guide. Well, a quick tug on the cable proved how useful that is: the cable got stripped, separating the wires inside. This was after the right speaker went dead, so it turned what was already a bad experience into a terrible one.
I'd have expected more from Sony, and was disappointed instead. Sony - if you're reading this - the experience with these headphones made me reconsider buying a VAIO laptop, and I went with Dell XPS instead. Digital camera? Now a Canon. Yeah, building a brand name starts with the little things.

Comments about Sony MDR-AS20J Stereo Earphone:

i've had two pairs of these over the last year (i returned the first pair and got a second as a replacement), and the left earpiece has gone mostly dead in both of them. i'm not particularly hard on them. so i don't think the wires are getting damaged.

Do not purchase: Right speaker fails routinely

              By Anonymous

              from Georgia

Comments about Sony MDR-AS20J Stereo Earphone:

Do not buy these headphones. I've purchased two pair and neither lasted more than a month or so before the right speaker failed. They should pull this off the market. They are a waste of money.
