I have a Sony 5 disc drawer player and a Sony BD player. Scratched, dirty discs, freeze up and won't play in any device. Handle your discs correctly and clean them and you'll enjoy this unit for a very long time.

Overall, this is a really good device. But I recommend you to save your penny's, and buy a Blue-Ray player from Sony because its the next generation. The device is very good looking and the quality of the 1080 HP video is the greatest. But.... This device lacks some major items such as Internet connectivity, a "home-screen", and applications. The feel to the device and the remote seems really cheap.

We kept an old Kenny Chesney DVD for it cost a bit. Had real scratches and would NOT play in our $600 Onkyo. It plays FLAWLESS in our new Sony. Thanks guys!

I got this to replace a DVD player which would not play new DVD's. So far it has been a very high quality player. My aid was watching a movie with me and was astounded with the cinematic quality of it. The cinema feel and the fact that it is high def make it worth having.

Bought this model for the flexibility to upgrade my parent's TV to HD eventually and still be able to watch standard DVD's. Their remote for a SD Sanyo TV they own was also acting up, so I thought this would be perfect, a universal remote to control the TV with the DVD player. Wrong...the universal remote does not have a code for the Sanyo TV...so I'll still need to get another remote for the TV.
