Electronics e-retailer pcRUSH.com is offering consumers the option of using Mazooma's online debit program. It allows consumers to use their banks’ online bill pay systems to pay merchants.
We are very pleased to provide to our customers a way to make purchases from pcRUSH.com directly from their banks, in real-time, without the need for credit cards," says Fred Bokhoor, CEO for pcRUSH, No. 284 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.
To use the program, the consumer must select Mazooma. The consumer can then create an account, which requires a password and date of birth. Once signed in, he selects his bank from a drop-down screen. After he signs in to his account, he only has to approve the online bill payment transaction (Mazooma automatically enters the merchant's information, as well as the transaction total).
Mazooma is primarily aimed at consumers without credit cards-or those uncomfortable with using their credit or debit card online. "We're not looking to steal business from PayPal or anyone else, but rather, we are representing something else that is new and different because it makes it easier to shop online using debit," says Paul Phillipson, managing director USA at Mazooma. And because Mazooma checks that bank balances are larger than the transaction total, it also gives merchants instant authorization, while also eliminating interchange fees.
